The University Health Service released an health advisory memorandum on the 16th of February, 2024, addressing students and staff on matters related to their health.

The memo stated that it has come to their notice that most of the current visiting patients at the clinic are majorly being diagnosed of Upper Respiratory Tract Infection (URTI) which is specifically caused by environmental conditions.

Therefore, in order to control the prevalence of the aforementioned ailment, UHS then advises students and staffs to always wear face masks, practice regular hygiene, boost immunity by taking fruits, stay hydrated daily, and lastly to avoid gatherings of large number of people, or crowded settings.

The memo as well poses a forecast by the Nigeria Meteorological Agency that states that air temperature could remain high around 40C° in the days ahead.

Further advisory also reads the need for reduction in outdoor engagements, and more of indoor engagement. It also reveals the need for usage of fan, covering under shades, and wearing light breathable clothes.
