On Wednesday, 3rd of May, the AFAS Guild of Editors released a shortlist of candidates for its upcoming award ceremony.

The ceremony which will be held at a later date will see to the giving of awards and conferring of honours to outstanding local press organisations across the categories of Sports, Editorial, News, Features, Politics/Opinion, Entertainment/Lifestyle, Health, Interview/Lifestyle. A number of local press organisations have been nominated in each category, and an Overall Best LPO will be given to the most outstanding departmental press.

With the maiden edition of the ceremony in sight, individual pressmen will also look forward to clinching one prize or more as nominations for the best in some of the categories erstwhile mentioned have been made.

Deservedly, Nasels Press organisation has two nominees in the three-man shortlist for the Best Features Writer category. The nominees are Olaoluwa Emmanuel and Atanda Ayobami of 400 and 200 levels respectively.

These nominations are testament to the diligence of these pressmen as well as the creative genius that abound within the press and, by extension, the Department of English – a fact that will be further reinforced should any of the duo clinch the prize.
