The Faculty of Arts Literary and Debating Society held an oratory competition at Room 32, Faculty of Arts, on Tuesday, June 24, 2025.

The oratory competition, themed SOCIAL MEDIA IS BRIDGING THE GAP BETWEEN MODERNITY AND AFRICAN VALUES, was judged by Babatimeyin Peace and Muiz Opeyemi, two individuals who have carved a niche for themselves in oratory and writing contests.

Representing the NASELS Literary and Debating Society, Adesua Damilola, a 100 level students of the Department of English, who emerged as the first runner up, touched on the impact of social media platforms like Facebook, X, Instagram, etc., in the preservation of African values.

In attendance also were Sakeenah Kareem, Arts’ LDS President; Temiloluwa Olabiyi, President, NASELS LDS; Blessings Emmanuel, Vice President, NASELS LDS; the representatives of the Departments of English, Communication and Language Arts, Religious Studies, European Studies, Philosophy, and Music; and other spectators.
