The University of Ibadan Student Union has cautioned the student community against scammers who have been on the rise with fraudulent activities.
The Union has made an urgent security alert having received credible reports of individuals impersonating students, entrepreneurs, university staff and house agents using various strategies such as offering assistance to clear extra year, secure accommodation or to offer products or services.
According to the memorandum released, the Union alongside the University Security Unit, has apprehended some of these perpetrators but warns the entire student community to be vigilant and exercise caution when dealing with unknown individuals.
The Union emphasized that neither the University of Ibadan nor the Student Union will ever solicit money from students for course clearance or payment of fees . All university processes must follow official procedures and should be verified through appropriate channels.

The Union further provides protective measures which include verifying all claims, avoid making payments unless verified and officially approved, and avoid sharing personal information to unverified individuals.
Additionally, students are advised to be wary of urgency tactics often used by scammers and to promptly report any suspected fraudulent activities to the Union or the University Security Unit.
