The National Association of Students of English and Literary Studies, Electoral Committee has  released the screening results of the 2024/2025 academic session aspirants.

The screening which took place on January 24th, 2025 examined six candidates vying for the post of the President, Vice-President, Financial Secretary, Sport Director, Assistant General Secretary and PRO.

According to the screening results of the Electoral Committee of the association (NEC), all six participants of the screening exercise passed the process and therefore are qualified to commence to the next stage of the election. The aspirant for the office of Director of Information, Fannibe Emmanuel Eniola, emeergd with the highest score, 81.2%, the next highest being the Presidential candidate, Afolabi Gloria, 79.4%; followed by that of the Vice Presidential candidate, Shokunbi Evangeline, 75.6%; followed by the aspirants for the office of the Assistant General Secretary, Kolawole Monisola, 75.2%; then the office of the Director of Sports, Obilonu Grace Chidebere, 75% and the office of the Financial Secretary, Salaudeen Abdulsalam, 64%.

Noted at the screening also was that, the post of the Treasurer, General Secretary, and Social Director had no running candidates for them, to which upon realising, the aspirant for the office of the AGS, Kolawole Monisola, a current 100-level student, was informed that, if elected, would serve in the capacity of the General Secretary, while still maintaining her post as the AGS, until the General Secretary is bye-elected. And by implication, she must be present at all times without an excuse. “There is no assistant to delegate duties to, so cannot miss any meeting”, she was told.

As the screening came to a conclusion, the lack of no contesting opponent in all offices was also noticed.
