On 25th of November, 2024, Postproverbials in African Culture Expressions (PACE) in conjunction with the Department of English, University of Ibadan, presents a 3-day conference tagged, The Universality of the (post) Proverbial Imagination: Interrogating The Theory, Practice and Functions of Post Proverbial Acts which was held at Room 32.
The conference had in attendance the Dean of the faculty, Prof S. O Oyetade; Prof Nelson Fashina, Head of Department, Department of English; Prof Aderemi Raji-Oyelade who is also the convener of the conference, Dr. Oyeleye, Dr. Akinsete, Dr. Tella and other lecturers of the department. Also, with the presence of the departmental President and other executive members.
Prof Odebunmi in his address praised the Converner and acknowledged him as a good mentor while stating that he was proud of him “holding this international project.”
Furthermore, Dr. Yinka Oyeleye who doubled as the first speaker, spoke on “An African Feminist Philosophy of Language” maintaining the fact that language and thoughts are inexplicably linked.
In the virtual part of the conference, scholars from different countries had their quota on the subject of discussion.
Dr. Awelewe from South Africa stated the strategies of post proverbial transformation alongside Dr. Aguoru, and Dr. Ajadi amongst others who also gave their presentations.
The conference is to be in different sessions, which are physical, virtual and a mentorship opportunity.
