On Friday 15th November, 2024, The Youth Outstanding Undergraduates Charity Foundation (YOU) in collaboration with the Association of Faculty of Arts Students, University of Ibadan organised the first edition of its kind tagged YOU CAMPUS CONFERENCE 2024: “ENTREPRENEURSHIP JOURNEY STORY”
This event which was hosted by Mr. Babs Fagbade, the Founder of the YOU Charity Foundation was held in Room 32, Faculty of Arts with the presence of four notable speakers who recalled the stories of how they started their journey as an entrepreneur and how they look forward to seeing students become a better person in the field.
Mr. David Tosin Bakare, the founder of Tova Africa gave the first speech, and he affirmed “Entrepreneurship is rooted in Faith”. He further used used the Chinese Bamboo tree as an illustration of how the Entrepreneurship world is. He explained that it takes a good amount of labour and consistency before an entrepreneur can truly reap the reward of their labour.
He furthers asserted that “As an entrepreneur, you are not a sprinter but a marathon runner”
Mrs. Moremi O Adeleye, a Co founder of Twin Institute and an alumna of the university while presenting her speech, claimed that she discovered her plan and purpose for the future during her second years in the university.
She encouraged the students present to maximise the opportunity they have by consistently dedicating their full effort and unwavering commitment to everything they pursue.
Also, Mr. Jerry Chris Oche, a Nigerian entrepreneur, economist, agricultural technologist and also the founder of Street Toolz stated how everyone cannot be an entrepreneur, but it is possible that everyone can be an accomplished and incredible individual.
In his speech, he challenged the students to aim high and also look out for opportunities, no matter how small it may be. Closing his speech, he quoted “One Company, One Product, One customer and One Revenue”.
Furthermore, Mr. Akeem Adeola Salami, the founder of Mobile Classroom, told the story of how he had grown his businesses over the years by working in hands with the uneducated fellows who have different handiwork and are good at them. He encouraged the students to learn collaboration and business strategies.
He further gave an introduction to the Mobile Classroom and held an online quiz with a prize of twenty thousand naira (20,000) each for the first five students with the highest score within the allocated time.
