On 14th of November, 2024, the UI 76th Convocation ceremony continued with the faculty of Social Science, Education, Veterinary Medicine, Technology, Pharmacy, Renewable Natural Resources and Environmental Design and Management at the The University of Ibadan International Conference Centre.

Recall that the Convocation had started on Wednesday, November 13th, 2024 where Faculties of Arts, Economics, Law and others were awarded their first degrees.

The event opened up with the academic procession and the rendition of the newly revived Nigerian Anthem and the U.I anthem as dignitaries were introduced by Professor Adenike Adejobi, afterwards.

Giving the opening speech, The Chancellor said; “I am proud to announce that U.I has achieved remarkable milestone…” He rolled out the past achievements and present achievements of the school giving credit to the University students and lecturers who have put the Varsity’s name on the map of the globe.

Taking over from the Chancellor, Oluseye Alabi, an oil tycoon, and an alumnus from the department of Physics of the University of Ibadan, was billed to give the keynote speech titled- Unleashing your potential through hard work, diligence, adaptability and character.”

In his speech, he encouraged them to be relentless in their pursuit for success and to never stop learning. Referencing his rise to the top, he allayed their fears by saying: “the gloom of the world is only but a shadow” whilst making them understand that there was no substitute for hardwork in the pursuit of success.

Resounding the need for excellence and expertise, he gave a quote of Maya Angelou: “Do the best you can until you know better and when you know better, do better.”
