A student running a full-time culinary business while studying alongside was the life that Oluchi Anuoluwapo Anukanti lived for three years.
In a close chat with NASELS Press, Oluchi Anukanti whose brand name is Nuela Cuisine bares it all on being a student and a business owner as she gets convocated.
Commenting on the journey so far, Anukanti who graduated from the department of Psychology, Faculty of Social Science said; “I can say it was an amazing journey. It was a dream come true.”
Furthering her statement, she said: “It really stretched me probably based on the lot of things I combined together while doing the journey and all but above all, I was able to turn my pain into passion”.
Discounting the fact that a support system was what kept her going, she revealed; “I would say personally that I don’t have that support system socially in human form, even parentally so the whole journey was as though i went through it myself which simply means if you don’t work, you can’t eat, and if you don’t work, you can’t continue your schooling.”
Revealing the secret to how she was able to combine her business with schooling, she commented that “I am someone who is resilient and I have a particular goal. One of the things that made me do it so well I’d because each time I look at the future, I know what I want.”
She added that it was just God’s strength that kept her going and the masculine energy that she had developed over the years.
Reacting to whether she has ever wanted to give up, she responded; “Well, yes especially when I was going through my culinary school. Few days before my final exams, I reached out to my mentor that I want to give up. I was so stressed financially, academically, mentally and emotionally but he spoke to me and gave me his moral support that I have gone this far.”
Similarly, she added that “I really got this resilient spirit, even though it had a negative part on me in the sense that it brought out my masculine energy which is not too good for a female”.
Correcting the notion that multitasking as a student meant balancing your activities, she said that “so it is not a thing of balancing at this point, it is a thing of sacrifice. If you are not resilient, you can’t do it and it is not all of us that have the energy or strength to pull the stunt I pulled.”
Expressing gratitude to God, she said; “I am grateful to God that I eventually made my loved ones proud. I did not just have a Bsc in Psychology, I also have another degree in Culinary Arts. While everyone is having Bsc as their first degree, I am grateful to God that I have two I can show forth for and can take me to so many places. “
