The management of the University of Ibadan has asked its students to go on a compulsory three-week break on Saturday, August 31.

This is contained in a circular dated August 30, 2024, signed by the Registrar which is tagged: Circular to Students: Three weeks Break.

Recall that the students of the University of Ibadan had come all out to protest the increment in the school fees by manning the school gate denying entrance to incoming vehicles and also halting academic activities on Friday, August 30.

The protest had broken out in the early hours of Friday with the students chanting songs of fee reduction at the entrance of the VC lodge before they took over the gate of the campus.

Consequently, the school management together with the Governing Council had called the students for a meeting to address their grievances and propose a solution.

The resolution of their meeting was to call for a three week extension of the payment of the fees to the chagrin of many students who see this as a diversion from their actual demand – FEE REDUCTION.

The school management took a turnaround in their decision by asking all students to vacate the campus latest by 2pm as contained in the letter above.

At the expiration of the three weeks, the school will be reopened and examinations will commence on the 23rd September.
