The Governing Council of the University of Ibadan, on Thursday 29 August, 2024, gave a deadline for the payment of school fees, which was set for Wednesday 4 September, 2024. 

The announcement came after the convening of the Governing Council, sponsored by the students’ demand after the protests held on July 16 and 17, 2024. 

In the release, the Governing Council sympathised with students but neglected the call for the reversal of the hike in fees, however noting the review was necessary as a result of present economic realities and the university’s commitment to ensuring quality teaching and research.
