University of Ibadan students, once again, took to the street on Thursday 29 August 2024 to make their reversal of fees request known to the school management.

The civil demonstration came following the resolution of the Governing Council by neglecting the top students’ demands, which was the reversal of fees, in the protest held on July 16 and 17.

Recall that the university management, upon the commencement of the 2023/2024 academic session, had increased the school fees of the students exponentially, which, to the students, seemed unbearable.

The UISU Executive Council led by Aweda Bolaji released a memo earlier citing the decision of the students after the protest held immediately the UI Governing Council released its resolution.

The students unanimously rejected the decision of the governing council, which, in response, would lead to their boycotting of lectures.

They demanded the school fee portal be shut down and stated that the students would continue to protest until their requests are met.

However, the UISU executives encouraged the students to keep making use of social media platforms to make their demands known to the concerned authorities and the general public, hashtagging #UIFEESMUSTFALL and #SAVEUITES
