The National Association of Students of English and Literary Studies (NASELS), University of Ibadan, held a Costume Day, on Thursday, August 22, 2024, at the Faculty of Arts Quadrangle.

The event, organised by Team Innovation and Evolution was tagged “Endymasia(Roll of Attire)”, and it had a lot of activities which included: photo sessions, indoor and outdoor games, networking, and fun, amongst others.

NASELS Press while interviewing some of the attendees, interviewed Gloria Afolabi, the Social Director of the department. She said, “We had Retro Day last year and it would be nice to have people come together again under the atmosphere of love and fun and that’s what birthed Endymasia.

She added that it was nice to see NASELSITES turn up and see everyone “unwinding” from the school’s stress.

Also, Adekunle Salau, a 400l student of English while speaking to NASELS Press, said, “It is something the Executives have been working on to integrate the levels and the two institutions together (the University of Ibadan full-time students and the Distant Learning Centre).”

He commented on the turn-up and said he wishes the next administration would be able to maintain this legacy.

Kazeem Yusuf, a 300l DLC student of the Department of English expressed his displeasure at how the whole event turned out. In his words, he said, “The atmosphere is awesome, even though the event didn’t start at the stipulated time.” He added that the order of the program was not followed according to what was on the flyer.

He expressed his displeasure about the whole setting, coupled with the fact that he came with some of his friends.

In addition, Monisola Kolawole, an 100l student of the Department of English was also happy to share her experience with the press, and for her, she added that she enjoyed the networking part.

“There are some seniors I have not seen before, but getting to see them today and networking is the highlight for me,” she commented.

Endymasia also welcomed NASELSites from the Distance Learning Centre and this was recorded as the first of its kind. Hence, this will further foster the spirit of unity and oneness among NASELSites in the main campus and those from the Distance Learning Centre.
