In an exclusive interview held by the NASELS Press University of Ibadan with the Student Union President, Aweda Bolaji has reiterated that there is no deadline on the school fees payment yet.
He addressed certain issues on the school fees, acknowledging the delay in the school fees review.
In his statement, he said, “Well I know the school fees review is taking so much time and we don’t have a headway yet and it is due to some issues in the governing council, and that is the reason why they have not been able to exactly meet.”
Prior to this moment, Aweda Bolaji had promised a downward review in the school fees. This came in after the protest held on Wednesday, July 17, where the students of the university of Ibadan came out in their numbers to air their minds on the school fees hike and other pressing concerns.
Then, after some weeks have passed and there seems to be no assurance that the school fees will be slashed, students have begun to raise their reactions to deadlines given by some faculties and departments.
Reacting to this, the SU president, Aweda Bolaji exclaimed,” It is not possible! We have said that there is no deadline on school fees payment yet.”
In his further response to the students doubt on the potency of the union on this matter as examination fast approaches, he added, “Of course now, students should take our word for it”.
Commenting further, he said: “You cannot mandate people to do registration if there is no deadline on school fees yet so that is not even possible.”
