The NASELS UI Sports Director, Adeleye Korede BOMA, on Friday, July 27, 2024, has told NASELSites to watch out for this session’s HOD’s Cup.

BOMA made this known in the pre-match press conference held by the NASELS Press Sports on Friday ahead of the NASELS’ first match in the SEALS Cup’24 on Monday against the Department of Agricultural and Electrical Engineering (AEE).

“About the HOD’s Cup, which is going to be held next semester, that’s the major thing to watch out for. It’s a huge tournament, although the competition was started last session by the former Sports Director. We haven’t been participating in it. This will be the first edition throughout my years in UI. It’s something to watch out for. There will be prizes. It will be all-inclusive. It will not be on football alone. We are going to include other sporting activities like race, and indoor games. That is the biggest sporting event to watch out for this session.”, he stated.

Nonetheless, BOMA affirmed that there would be a reformation of the NASELS sports during his tenure.

“We are planning for a kind of reform in this department. We are trying to include more people in sports. The concept of sporting activities in UI is in our department. We are trying to include indoor games. We have done well in establishing NASELS FIT; it is an effort to keep NASELSites at their best. We hope to have a day where NASELSites can come and hang out and do sporting games.”

He expressed the support the NASELS male football team got from the present executive council.

“They have been really helpful. They have been able to gain the interest of NASELSites. There is an executive (the president, Babatunde Adamson known as ‘Bomi) who is a player. He organises the players. The treasurer (Salau Adekunle) has done a lot; he is the one who sourced the most funds, organising the players because he is the captain of the team. Other executives also did their part.”
