The Association of the Faculty of Arts Students hosted “The Classroom: a party from the 90s” at the Faculty Quadrangle which marked the beginning of the 2023/2024 freshers’ welcome.
In attendance were both new and returning students, and it featured a series of interesting events like face painting, table tennis, music, PlayStation games, spoken word/rap, karaoke, poetry in Yoruba, pick a partner dance, and a trade fair among others.
At 5:30 pm, the classroom was officially opened by a 300-level student of the Department of Communication and Language Arts with a poetry rendition in the Yoruba language. A student presented spoken word and rap from ‘Negel’ and two songs of karaoke by another female student.
Later in the evening, there was a dance match that involved dancing with a partner, and at this point, the music changed from the latest songs to songs from a year ago and more.
Students who came around danced on stage as the music was being played.
