The National Association of Students of English and Literary Studies, under Team Innovation and Evolution, held the first of its kind freshers’ hangout on the 13th of July, 2024, at the Leather Lounge, Faculty of Social Sciences.

The hangout which was in a bid to foster a bond among the freshmen was hosted by the Social Director, Afolabi Gloria, and in attendance were the President of the association, ‘Bomi Adamson, the Public Relation Officer, Okunola Demilade, and the freshmen.

The event commenced with a “meet and greet” where attendees got to meet each other with joy and enthusiasm, as the participants were grouped into four teams: Red, Blue, Green, and Black respectively.

Afterwards, July celebrants were celebrated and honored with birthday songs both in Korean and English languages.

Varieties of games were played with representatives from each group. The scavenger hunt game had two representatives from each team. Each participant was directed to find dictated materials within a stipulated time that caused them to scamper among their team members hence creating excitement among the freshmen. Eventually, Team Red emerged as the winner. Likewise, a Charade game where a representative plays out a word or phrase while the teammates figure out what is being depicted.

Progressively, passing the cup questions followed. The participant who holds the cup whenever the music ends answers a question. It gradually focused on love-related topics.

Udokwu Favour, Adeyemi Favour, and Peace Matthew made poetry renditions respectively and two among these were rewarded based on their performance.

Refreshments were served at intervals to maintain the smiles on their faces as Adedeji John and Angel Oluwakorede performed a rap sequentially.

A group picture of the NASELS freshers was taken as the hangout ended a few minutes past 6 pm, a good note with all attendees hoping for more events in the future.
