The Students Union executives on the 15th of April, 2024 organized a Congress, which held at the SUB foyer with a view to addressing the hike in the supposed school fee that freshers are expected to pay.

The Congress, which is the highest decision-making body, began around 5 p.m., and approximately, nearly 2 hours after the fixed time. Then, in the proceedings of the congress, students turned out in their number from different halls, faculties, and departments, as well as the current student union executives were noticed.

Following the heat of the congress, several students stepped out on the podium to express their displeasure against the proposed fees. Many of them, however, brought forward their opinions, as well as the way forward that they deem fit will be beneficial to combat the fee hike.

That is, the students expressed their grievances and this led to a motion raised which is the suspension of the UI student union election. While conversing on this, the motion of suspension was absolutely supported by the majority because there is a need to attend to pressing issues more than the election.

Furthermore, the congress made a resolution which is that a committee will be set up, thus, the Action Committee. Hence, this Action Committee has five notable members who are voted in by the students on the spot. Also, the Action Committee will be tasked with the responsibility of representing the work with the interest of the Students’ displeasure with the fee hike. Likewise, the committee is opined to go on a media tour of publicity in order to express the displeasure of the students on the school fee hike.
