The Student Union, University of Ibadan held a personality lecture on the 7th of March, 2024 at the International Conference Centre Hall in honour of Barr. Beulah Adeoye during her UI’SU week as the lecture was themed “Exploring Personal Growth outside the Classroom. The Strategies of an Accomplished Individual”.

This event was graced by many dignitaries such as HRM, Oba Yekeen Ademola Abioye, Eleyipo of Ipapo Land, Barr. Beulah Adeoye, West African Head of Forensic at Deloitte, and Touche among others.

A large number of students came en-masse as the day was declared a lecture-free day, and many of the purposes that facilitated their presence were to seek to know how these great personalities harness the power within them, and how they emerged strong despite all the difficulties that surrounds the human society of now and then.

Furthermore, on this day, Barr. Beulah Adeoye, an alumnus of the university who is also a distinguished Chartered accountant, and Lawyer who graduated with a first-class degree served as the Keynote speaker for the day, and he addressed the students on how he navigates through life with different challenges through his personal experiences as a student at the university.

He then further describes the places that students can relate with, as he advised them “to avoid distractions like a plague, setting themselves apart from the pack,” and in the end, his speech was commended to have shaped mindsets. Also, the panel section followed afterwards with Prof. Oyedunni Arologun, Barr. Bimbo Ojenike, Mr Adesola Ogundiran FCA, Barr. Beulah Adeoye and Mr Edmund Obilo, a popular broadcaster and journalist who served as the moderator.

Moving on, Diverse strategies were provided for the students through these personnels – one of the panelists, Prof. Bimbo Ojenike said, “Every day, I read cumulatively, and by the time the examination comes, I’ll be playing. Still, I’ll lead the class

Likewise, Prof. Adesola Arulogun stated, “Stepping outside the classroom is the best sphere for the implementation of what is taught in the classroom”.

In the end, the lecture ended with fundraising by the Student Union Executives whose main purpose is to seek support for the project, and awards which are to be presented to the panelists for their participation.
