The National Association of Students of English and Literary Studies Press (NASELS Press) will hold its maiden workshop for the session on Digital Journalism, Search Engine Optimisation (SEO), and news writing.
The workshop, slated to be held on Saturday, March 2, 2024, will take place at the Faculty of Arts, University of Ibadan, starting from 10 a.m.
The training is organised to equip the Campus Journalists of the NASELS Press on the revolution in the media industry, introducing them to new journalism as the world evolves.
As scheduled, there are going to be three guest speakers who will take the student journalists of the local press organisation on the nitty-gritty of their respective subjects.
Ayanboade Kehinde, a graduate of the Department of Mass Communication, The Polytechnic, Ibadan, will speak on digital journalism. Kehinde has profound knowledge in the media industry, having served as the following either presently or in the past: Fact Checker of Roundcheck, Freelancer Reporter at Punch Newspaper, Campus Correspondent, writer at the Nations Newspaper, Managing Publisher at Naija Metro, News Correspondent at Oyo State House of Assembly, former senior reporter/correspondent of National Insight, former team lead of at student media personality, Nigeria, The Polytechnic, Ibadan chapter.
The second speaker, Ogonna Jeremiah who is an SEO expert and part three Law student at the University of Ibadan, will teach the NASELS Press members everything that encompasses Search Engine Optimisation (SEO). He has a vast knowledge of writing SEO content.
Aduwo Ayodele, the news editor of the Union of Campus Journalists University of Ibadan (UCJUI) will teach the campus journalists of the NASELS Press how to write news stories and every element that revolves around gathering information and elements of news. Aduwo is popular for news writing and impacting journalists on campuses across southwestern tertiary institutions.
Nonetheless, the workshop, being the first of the session, will last for no fewer than 5 hours as it is expected to be the only one for the session since the second semester is gradually coming to an end.
