The season is meant to be a promising one, and as a matter fact, the administration of Team Rejuvenation will be rounding their tenure off in a matter of few months. However there are many unfulfilled promises, undone tasks and plans, problems encountered and provisions that NASELITES need to be aware of. In lieu of this, Nasels Press Organisation interviews the president with some certain questions as touching her administration.

Can you introduce yourself?

I am Akomolafe Tolulope Sinmiloluwa, a 400-level student of the Department of English. I am also the president of the students’ association of the department.

You’ve been on this campus for a while now. How has your journey in the prestigious University of Ibadan been?

It has been a bumpy ride; very eventful. I’m glad this phase is almost coming to an end.

How are you able to manage your time successfully?

As the president, I plan adequately by creating time to do all that matters. I also delegate duties a lot.

Holding a political office in the University is no small deal and it is shrouded in a lot of challenges. How have you been able to cope?

The goal to be excellent has kept me on my toes. Challenges or not, God has been so helpful.

Some people believe that women leaders lack effective leadership styles. Do you think this is so?

I do not believe so. Not to blow my own trumpet, I am a testament to the fact that women leaders can be very effective in their various capacities.

Since you became the NASELS President, what are the achievements that have been recorded by your administration?

Together with other members of the Rejuvenation team, we have (and plan to do much more) awakened Naselsites to create a more alive department. Also, I have met with lots of relevant persons for the good of Naselsites.Very soon, these discussions will birth forth good results for Naselsites to see.

Year in and year out, a number of new students in the Department of English desire to cross to other departments. What do you have to say about this?

Everyone has the right to choose whatever they see as “better” and in this case, it is a life-changing decision. I am very much certain that a lot of people want to and have transferred from other departments to English too. The Department of English is a very versatile one, if you ask me.

Other students in the faculty opine that English students are indifferent to non-academic activities. If so, why?

If they have been following the events in the department following the election of Team Rejuvenation, they should not have these to say. However, I would like to assume that they are not well-informed. This semester will give them the correct information they need because there’s going to be a more thorough rejuvenation process.Watch out.

Departmental week for the 2023/2024 academic session is fast approaching. What plans do NASELS executives have for us all?

NASELS week would be very eventful. Various plans are going on already. I would like to implore Naselsites to get ready to participate and anticipate a departmental week like never before.

Do you have any suggestions for those aspiring to hold political offices in the faculty?

Hmmm. I would say that they should give us reasons to vote them as leaders at the faculty level, be ready to make sacrifices, and fulfill their promises.

In conclusion, a gentle reminder is here on the table of the Nasels President and other executives. If a unit of the administration fails to meet up to standard, the whole tenure will be blamed. Therefore, every gap needs to be filled in the meantime, and this is a further call to collective responsibility. The association and the department needs to be represented well, and this can best show through the portraits they are being revealed to the public. Be up and doing, than ever before.
