As regards the Department of English, salient matters of priority are to be placed on the table for further growth and they are :

Priority 1: Unity

The newly elected executives may have to pull a  formidable task of fostering unity and cohesion within the department. Their roles encompass not only administrative duties but also the responsibility to bridge the gap between students and faculty.

In an era of remote learning and digital communication, their ability to create a sense of community among diverse members will be pivotal in the department’s success.

Priority 2: Maintaining standard

Also, the Department of English is known for its groundbreaking research, and deep exploration of literature and grammar, and this is to pave the way for critical thinking and academic excellence. This is to say, maintaining standard is beyond the classroom or departmental competition, rather emphatically, this will bring a distinctive recognition for the department.

The department continues to thrive by drawing inspiration from its intellectual legacies. And this is to buttress the importance of an updated library where students can consistently engage in stretch exploration of knowledge.

Priority 3: Rebuilding Trust and Morale:

Having begun with fostering a sense of unity in the department, it is also important to showcase trust among the department members. This can be manifested when open meetings or forums to listen to their concerns and ideas, and this is to ensure that everyone feels valued and heard while they belong to the department

Priority 4: Consistent structure of accountability

Also, the newly elected executives should Implement clear accountability structures and processes to ensure that responsibilities and expectations are well-defined. This can be done when they regularly have a structure for monitoring progress and outcomes. This is strictly adhered to holding individuals and teams accountable for their performance at every point in time.

In conclusion, these priorities are not all that need to be attended to. However, this is only a call to be awake to duty before the semester runs to an end or before the session ends.
