The AFAS Director of Sports, Comrade Alawiye Israel, widely known by his moniker – Prime – has been relieved of his executive duty after a legislative sitting that was held on the 25th of March, 2023.
Indicted for his lack of accountability and slight to office duty, the now former director of sports was initially suspended from his duties before a later resolve to reinstate him. The ultimatum for his reinstatement, however, was that he stay true to his duties and must steer clear of the selfsame offences for which he was erstwhile accused. The conditions were solidified by a signed undertaking, and a breach of any of them would see him ousted from office.
Here is an excerpt from the undertaking:
“I hereby undertake that if I am found guilty of any offence whatsoever in the Course of holding the office, I shall be impeached by the Legislative arm without Mercy or prior warning.”
Found guilty of similar crimes in his continued stint at the helm, impeachment was no longer a possibility but an eventuality. He was removed by the legislative council on the 25th of this month through a secret ballot system.
What next?
The electoral committee is set to conduct and oversee the process for a possible replacement in the coming weeks. For now, no news of a viable replacement has surfaced – certainly something to look out for as the semester gradually unfolds.
