In a communique released on the official Facebook page of the association, the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has declared a temporary halt in learning which will take effect on Monday, 7th of February, 2022.

The decision of the academic body was consequent upon the Federal Government’s refusal to meet the long-spelt demands of ASUU, and the disclosure of the body’s next line of action was mainly to further sensitise members of the Nigeria public on the pervading status quo. 

The released memo reads as follows:

‘The union will be sensitising the public, which includes the media, on the state of affairs between the union and the FG. Monday, February 7 has been declared  as a lecture-free day in a bid to enhance the sensitisation.’
