Good morning, Madam President. Thank you for meeting with us on short notice. How are you doing?

I’m doing fine. Thank you very much for also meeting with me.

As part of your campaign, you promised three major things: exceptional leadership, focus on students’ welfare and establishing harmony. Just as a reminder, how does your administration intend to achieve this?

Indeed, I stand for those three things. And lucky for me, the other executives are on the same page with me.

As a way of presenting exceptional leadership, I intend to lead by precept and example. We (the executives) are determined to let all we stand for show in our conduct and academics. Also, to present a united front as a way to show everyone in the English department that there is no separation amongst any level. We can achieve our common goal together.

Furthermore, concerning student welfare, we are concerned about everyone both academically and socially. Therefore, we want to secure help for every student across all levels by assisting one another to grow. People at the advanced level are there to help and provide guidance as needed. Also socially, we want to make sure Naselsites in the UI chapter are able to fully live their stay in the school. Compete with other schools, secure internships and competitions that enhance their creativity and make them blossom.

Finally, we want to ensure harmony not just amongst the levels or in the department but also regionally and nationally. I believe that together we can do much more. For these reasons, we have activities and events planned that will encourage unity.

Great. This brings me to my next question. As part of your agenda, you promised Peer Assisted Study Scheme, especially for the fresh students. Now that school has resumed, when should we be expecting this?

We are currently on it. We haven’t gotten every freshers’ contact yet, but before the end of the week, that should be in place.

Alright. What are the things the department should look out for in your administration?

The department should look forward to better communication about events and activities. Interesting events which would be worth the time. Competitions and activities to help creativity, especially for those who write and edit.

Also, we want to ensure that everyone is carried along properly. We want accessibility, everyone should be able to express their opinions because we are first and foremost accountable to them.

Concerning sponsorship, how does your administration plan to seek sponsors for planned events?

Concerning sponsors, registered companies accept requests at every quarter in order to align it with our calendar. We have written to them and secured some sponsorships. We don’t have everything all figured out, but that’s the beauty of learning. And we are doing that day by day.

The departmental library is not fully accessible to students. Are there plans by your administration to make the library fully functional for students?

Concerning that, I was at the HOD’S office to ask. They are of the opinion that students are not using the place properly and books are being mishandled and this may have been the case. However, after going to the HOD’s office we reached a consensus that at the moment it’s not yet available for students to use. However, we are proposing student librarians again. A set of students who will be accountable for anything going on in the library. Also, they would have to put down their name at the departmental office and return the key by 4pm. This will encourage accountability and it will remove some accusations that may come up.

The second suggestion is whether the department would be open to getting a full-time librarian to function at the library. Hopefully soon this will be clarified and everyone can access the library.

Noted. Concerning sports, you promised more outdoor and indoor games. You also mentioned Naselympics, where Naselsites will engage in various sporting activities. Should Naselsites still keep their hopes up for this?

Yes… Naselsites can expect that. We will be delivering what we promised and nothing less.

The last session, the past administration did not hold a dinner event, due to lack of funds and poor turnout by Naselsites. How does your administration plan to prevent a repeat of that this session?

I would say the past administration tried their best. However, I have been part of about four dinner committees and I have learnt quite a lot. We intend to pull our knowledge and experience together to make it successful. Also, we will put out the notice as quickly as possible for people to also plan themselves.

Thank you for your time. Any final words to Naselsites?

This administration stands for cohesion. Cohesion is achieved when everyone works together. I am very sure that with the cooperation of everyone, we will be limitless. So I am asking for everyone to participate and give their best.

Thank you very much, ma’am.

We wish you a successful administration.
