Tottenham Hotspur is considered to be one of the six competitive teams in English Premier League judging from their last performances under the supervision of Pochettino for the past five years.
To cap this, the sometimes overrated team, unexpectedly, was able to reach the Champions League finals, clearing the indomitable teams like Manchester City and Ajax off their path. Surprisingly, the Spurs before the sack of Pochettino had been having a miserable season due to their poor performances. Consequently, some week ago, Pochetino was sacked, and has been replaced by Jose Mourinho by the managements.
On the other hand, it should be recalled that Tottenham despite the impressive performances which they had been enjoying in the last five good seasons were not able to win any venerable trophy right from the time of Pochetino, while Leicester City who were considered as underdogs, at least won a trophy following their arrival from championship.
We can then say without mincing words that the team is battling with an ageing jinx: having wonderful performances without trophies.
Meanwhile, many questions and doubts have been regenerating among football analysts since the taking over of Tottenham by Jose Mourinho. Many are enthused by the virtues that Jose Mourinho who recently re-christened himself as “THE HUMBLED ONE, will restore the liveliness that characterises the English league because of the age long rivalry between him and some English coaches like Pep of Man City.
But the questions are still lingering around. Can Jose break the age long jinx, and is he capable of salvaging the Spurs from the dungeon “trophilessness”?
Yes he can! If we take cognizant look at the history of Jose Mourinho as a coach, one would easily agree, without being sentimental, to the fact that the new Spurs coach can actually win some trophies. We should not forget that it was this same Morinho that raised Chelsea out of the remains of relegation. At least, through his stay at Chelsea for different seasons, Jose was able to win two English Premier League trophies for the Blues. Asides, it was this same coach that brought a fine season for the Red Devils. At least, he won some trophies for the team as well.
Similarly, the Special One had once demonstrated his capacity as a coach at different European leagues: Spanish, French league and Series A. For instance, Jose Morinho had the opportunity to win two champions league for different clubs like Porto and Inter Milan. Besides, he had also won some trophies for Real Madrid before his departure.
Hence, speaking from the perspective of historical achievements of Mourinho at different teams from different leagues, one can argue without missing the road of truth that it is possible for the Spurs to break the age long jinx of “trophylessness”
