
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on Sunday declared as inconclusive the rerun of the Kogi West Senatorial District elation which took place last Saturday.
According to the INEC’s returning officer, Prof. Olayinde Lawal, the margin between both candidates was lower than the 43, 127 registered voters in 53 polling units.
Senator Dino Melaye of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP has rejected the result of the Saturday’s polls, calling it ‘magic result”. The dramatic Kogi born Senator said this at a press conference in Abuja on Sunday. He accused his APC opponent, Smart Adeyemi, and Gov. Bello of intimidating his supporters during the election in his strongholds. Dino was quoted by Sahara Reporters as saying, “I, Dino Melaye, won the election in the afternoon, and APC won it at night’.
The independent National Electoral Commission, had on Sunday declare the Kogi West Senatorial re-run election “inconclusive, following reports of some pocket of violence that marred the polls. From the results announced by INEC, Smart Adeyemi of APC is leading with 80, 118 votes, while Dino Melaye trails behind with 58, 548 votes.
